Since I was a little girl, I dreamed of having a ranch with a million kids and animals on it. I didn’t know exactly what we’d do there—I just knew it would too much fun to pass up.

Fifteen years later, I found myself in South America walking through a community built on a garbage dump. At the end of the road, I met four brothers. The oldest, David, was nine, and had the sweetest brown eyes and was very protective of his siblings.   We played for a while and then sat together while I told them about Jesus—they couldn’t believe there was someone who loved them no matter what and had died to take away every sin they had ever done or would do.

about Caroline…

After meeting their mom who had addiction issues, I resolved to come back and check on the boys. When I arrived at the house the next day David was gone. His mom had sent him out to collect trash for money, and she didn’t know when, or if he’d be back. A nine year old boy spending his day scavenging to support his mother’s addiction stirred something deep in me. No child should grow up feeling unprotected.

Over the years, I’ve met children facing abuse, abandonment, and exploitation in places near and far. The need is overwhelming, but I can start with one. My hope is to build a ranch where kids can feel safe, valued, and truly loved. Even if one child discovers their worth and learns of the hope they have in Jesus, it will all be worth it.
